Most organisations do not have a backup problem, they have a recovery problem they have not tested. Backups run, jobs go green, and everyone assumes recovery works, right up until the day it has to, against ransomware, and it does not. What Veeam actually protects
Veeam's defining feature is that it is platform agnostic. It does not care what your workloads run on, which is exactly why it survives a platform change. From a single console it protects:

If your backup tool is tied to one hypervisor, changing platforms means changing how you protect it as well, at the worst possible moment. Veeam removes that risk. Recovery that is proven, and backups that survive
Two things separate a real recovery strategy from a hopeful one. The first is verification: Veeam can automatically test that a backup will actually restore, so you are not discovering problems during an incident. The second is immutability: backups written to an immutable target cannot be encrypted or deleted, even by an attacker inside your network. Does Veeam make backups ransomware proof?
Veeam supports immutable backups that cannot be encrypted or deleted for a set period, even by an attacker inside your network, and it can automatically verify that a backup will actually restore. Paired with an immutable target such as Object First, that gives you recovery which is both tested and protected against ransomware. Immutability guarantees a clean copy survives, which is what removes the leverage an attacker has over you.
Does Veeam back up Microsoft 365?
Yes, and it is one of the most important things it does. Microsoft operates 365 on a shared responsibility model, which means protecting your own data in Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams is your job, not theirs. Veeam backs up Microsoft 365 so that data can be recovered from accidental deletion, retention gaps or an attack, which many organisations wrongly assume is already handled.
