A Dynatrace estate drifts. New services get full stack monitoring by default, logs nobody queries pile up in retention, and features you already pay for go unused. We review consumption and adoption regularly, so the cost stays predictable and the platform keeps paying back.
Official Dynatrace partner, and an independent adviser
Dynatrace cost under the Dynatrace Platform Subscription is usage multiplied by the rates on your rate card, so cost control means controlling usage: which hosts carry full stack monitoring, how much log data is ingested, retained and queried, and how many sessions and synthetic tests run. Dynatrace provides budgets, cost monitors and a consumption forecast, although the forecast needs around fifteen days of data and Dynatrace describes it as an estimate.
Optimisation is not only about spending less. The same review usually finds capability already paid for that teams are not using, such as Dynatrace Intelligence for root cause analysis or automation workflows, and putting that to work is where most of the value sits.
Optimisation
Where the commitment is being consumed, by which teams and capabilities, and whether you are heading for a shortfall or unused commitment.
Hosts and services on full stack monitoring that only need infrastructure monitoring, and gaps where critical services have too little.
What is ingested, how long it is kept and how often it is queried, with filtering in OpenPipeline for data that is never used.
Cost monitors and budgets set up so a spike is caught in days, not at quarter end, and costs are allocated to the teams that drive them.
Capabilities you pay for but under use, from Dynatrace Intelligence and its agents to automation workflows, with a plan to put them to work.
What you get
We are an independent UK consultancy and an official Dynatrace partner. Our people spent decades on the vendor side, so we know how enterprise platforms are sold, sized and deployed, and we use that on your side of the table.
This is a regular review and improvement service, not round the clock operations. We work with your teams on a fixed cycle, and every change is agreed with you before it is made.

Questions
Usually because of coverage and logs. Full stack monitoring applied by default to hosts that only need infrastructure monitoring, and log data ingested and retained without anyone deciding whether it is needed, are the most common causes. Both can be fixed without losing visibility that matters.
Yes. Dynatrace provides budgets and cost monitors, and a consumption forecast once it has around fifteen days of data. The forecast is an estimate, so we pair it with regular reviews of where consumption is coming from.
Yes, Dynatrace supports cost allocation, although it does not yet cover every capability. We set it up for the capabilities that drive most of your spend so each team can see its own consumption.
At least quarterly, and monthly in the first year or after a big change such as a migration. A regular review catches drift early and builds the evidence you need to size the next renewal properly.
Yes. We can review and optimise any Dynatrace estate. As an official Dynatrace partner we can also handle the renewal if you choose, but the review stands on its own.
